AUTH researchers carried out a field study in Nemea to test natural solutions (biological control agents) for protecting grapevines from a harmful trunk disease caused by Diplodia seriata.
The study focused on two Greek grape varieties, Roditis and Limnio, and showed that certain natural fungi, especially Talaromyces pinophilus, were very effective in reducing infections.
Prof G. Karaoglanidis presented the results at the 17th International Congress of the Mediterranean Phytopathological Union, held in Bari, Italy, highlighting the potential of eco-friendly methods to protect vineyards and reduce the need for chemical treatments.
