As part of Work Package 1, leaf samples from 43 local and neglected Greek grapevine varieties were collected by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Hellenifera to study genetic diversity and screen for resistance to two major pathogens:

  • Plasmopara viticola (downy mildew)
  • Erysiphe necator (powdery mildew)

This research supports the development of more resilient grapevine genotypes and sustainable viticulture practices.
